How to Start Automatic injection Moulding Machine?

An automatic injection moulding machine is used in a process that is used for the creation of a variety of plastic constituents. In short, it is a process of producing parts in a large volume. The most favorable part of utilizing this machine is to manufacture a large number of items en masse. It is a fascinating process used on a large scale especially in factories for the production of multiple products at the same time.

Origin of Injection Moulding Machine.

The first injection moulding machine was invented in 1872. This innovation of injection moulding machine was led by John Wesley Hyatt and his brother Isaiah. The machine was completely makeshift in comparison to today\’s automatic injection moulding machines. The machine was totally basic consisting of the plunger-style part which relatively helped in injecting the plastic into the mould.

Later in 1946 American Inventor, James Watson Hendry built the world\’s first extrusion screw injection machine. Though this injection machine made a lot of processes easier, still in the 1970s he established gas insisted injection process.

This invention by James Watson Hendry was pivotal in the field of Injection moulding. Undoubtedly, it would be true to say that without his invention the process of injection moulding would not be as state of the art as it is today.

Hence, Hendry’s contribution in the field of injection moulding is remarkable. It is because of his efforts today we are using various automatic machines which requires less effort or otherwise it would have been much tedious to work for the manufacturing and production of goods.

Parts of Injection Moulding Machine.

The injection moulding machine comprises 2 units.

  1. The injection unit: The main work of the injection unit is to melt the plastic and then inject that molten plastic into the mould.
  2. The clamping unit: The purpose of the clamping unit is to ensure the opening and closing of the die along with the ejection of products.

Advantages of Starting Automatic Injection moulding :

There are numerous reasons to state the fact that Injection moulding is one of the best modern manufacturing techniques. There are multiple advantages of using this technique, some of the advantages of using an automatic injection process are listed below:

  1. Labor cost is reduced: Since the machine is automatic less labour force is required for the operation of the Automatic Injection moulding machine which indirectly saves the cost required for labour work. More than half of the work is automatic which leads to hardly any use of labour force.
  2. Fast Production results in efficiency: Since the machine is capable of producing numerous products it makes the speed of production faster which results in greater efficiency. Hence, mass production of a large number of products is possible because of this modern technique of Injection Moulding.
  3. Helps in Designing of Complex Parts: The process of automatic injection moulding helps in designing the complex parts feasibly. Even intricate designs on the product are made effortlessly because of the Automatic  Injection Process.
  4. Flexibility in Designing: Automatic injection moulding machine offers flexibility in choosing a variety of materials, colors, and textures at the same time which helps in enhancing the design of the product. Succinctly, this process offers multiple options in terms of design.
  5. Environment friendly: In the automatic injection moulding process there is a low possibility for the generation of scraps as most of the plastic left can be reused or recycled. Hence, there is no scope for wastage. In a nutshell, this process is environmentally friendly.
  6. Repeatability of products: Due to the automatic injection moulding process it is possible to make identical products multiple times. This helps in saving a lot of time since a large amount of production is possible where products are being produced without any difficulty. Process of injection moulding. The process of injection moulding consists of 6 crucial stages which have to be strictly followed for the manufacturing of the products.

The following are the steps of the injection moulding process :

1. Clamping: The process begins with closing the halves of the mould by the clamping unit. Then the halves are attached to the injection moulding machine. Afterward, the material is injected to make sure that halves are firm when the material is being injected.

2. Injection: In the injection process the raw plastic material which is in the form of pellets is heated to convert those pellets into a molten form.

3. Dwelling: After the injection stage the molten material is injected into the mould and more pressure is exerted to ensure that the mould’s cavities are filled.

4. Cooling: In this stage of injection moulding the moulded part or plastic is kept for cooling within the mould .

5. Mould Opening: In the opening stage, the clamp unit is opened to separate the mould.

6. Ejection: In the ejection stage, the mould is ejected with the help of an ejection rod and plate.

Hence, the left unused material can be recycled or reused in the future to make sure that there is no wastage.

Conclusion

The above process can be implemented successfully with the help of an automatic Injection moulding machine. However, the implementation of each of the steps has to be taken care of in order to get the desired product.

In short, by using the automatic injection moulding process one can enjoy the best of both worlds as this process helps in generating mass production without much destruction. So, it would be true to state that the invention of the automatic injection process is a boon for the production and manufacturing industry. In a nutshell, the invention of automatic injection moulding machines has made the daunting task of manufacturing and production much easier and faster. This process of injection moulding is even environmentally friendly because hardly any waste is generated. The implementation of moulding machines in the manufacturing process has innumerable advantages which help in making the process conducive.
